Top 5 Animal-Friendly Brands.

So it's the long awaited 'Top 5 Animal Friendly Brands' post. I'm sorry if it's not everyone's cup of tea and I've tried to be as informative and fair as I could. I included a few bits of everything so if you're looking for a particular product (ie. a nail varnish or body care) then you'd have atleast one idea of where to go. Also I'm sorry about the huge delay, I've been so busy but I promise to try and be a better blogger!

Spring Lipsticks

So as I said in my last post I went shopping on Saturday and I splurged! I must've spent like three hours in boots alone.
This is just a short post about my two favourite finds, funnily enough they are
both lipsticks, I don't know why but I'm loving lip products at the moment. They are both quite bright and similar so I thought I'd just talk about them both in the same post, here it goes...

MAC no more.

So as you all have probably heard MAC have been taken off the cruelty free PETA list.
I'm not actually someone who concentrates on whether or not a product has been tested on animals because to be brutally honest, I never actually knew animals suffered for what we use.
I sound so stupid saying this but I discovered it about 3 days ago and I'm absolutely horrified.

As soon as I watched the PETA videos and read some articles about it I felt like such a horrible human being. I was literally crying to my mum about it (which convinced her to go cruelty free too!) and I came to the decision that I will use up all the products I have, because it's no really that helpful if I just throw it all away and it's a waste of my money, once all the product has gone I'll only purchase things from a cruelty free company. I am so upset that MAC went back on their anti animal testing pledge in mid March, if I knew this I probably wouldn't have bought their eye pencil. I'm going to try my best to only review and buy cruelty free products from now on. :)

I hope some of you guys agree with this but obviously I don't want to make anyone change their opinion because of something I believe.

Anyway, I'm going shopping on Saturday because I've ran out of so many products :( I'm thinking of getting the Chanel VitaLumiere Aqua foundation so stay tuned for a review of that within the next week or so. I'm also going to be visiting LUSH and getting a lot of new shampoos, conditioners and skin treatments so I might do a quick haul of what I buy later on Saturday.

Love you all!

Sheer disappointment (Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint)

Hey guys!
So I absolutely love my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish so when I bought a new bottle (I must be on my third big bottle by now, oops haha!) I decided to try out the Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint for £21 and because I'm ridiculously pale I got mine in the bare 01 skin tone. One upside to this product is that it has SPF 15 which is always great for keeping your skin protected.
Although, I've used it four times up to now and I have to say, I'm not impressed.
If any of you live in the UK then you'll know we've had pretty decent weather the past few days so I thought it would be the perfect time to try out my new tinted moisturizer as my regular foundation was feeling a bit cakey and heavy in the lovely sun. The first time I applied it I have to admit that the coverage and the colour was perfect. I loved it! Although, it felt really wet on my skin and I added powder in order to kind of dry it out and make it stick.
This didn't help! The product felt sticky and heavy on my skin and even after 10-15 minutes the feeling did go down a little but it felt really strange and moist still. To demonstrate how wet the product is, when I got to college I hugged someone and it left a foundation stain on their glasses!
I mean, fair enough, if I had tonnes on or if I was sweating then it might be a bit more acceptable but I genuinely wasn't and it's not a problem I've ever had with any other products.
I do have combination to oily skin so maybe the product is better for those with dry skin but personally I think you can get a lot better products for a hell of a lot cheaper!
There are also other downsides to this product, it definitely doesn't have long staying power and after about 4 hours my skin was practically bare. Also the colour range is really limited, anyone with darker skin or someone who has black skin wouldn't be able to find a suitable shade, as far as I know they only do 3 variations and they don't differ much in pigmentation.
However, my skin does feel very moisturized and soft so I'm probably going to use mine as a base coat under my foundation as it is very good but the coverage and staying power is just horrendous.
I did do my research and checked out the reviews on the Liz Earle website and they all seem really positive but then after checking out some independent reviewers I found that most people were having the same issues.
So my verdict is, if you have slightly oily skin like mine... save don't spend! This product is seriously just not worth it. However it's worth getting a sampler if you have quite dry skin because I can see it looking fab on the right skin type.

Thanks for reading guys and if you have any comments, any reviews or even a blog you want me to check out then leave a comment below :) Don't forget to follow!

Distressed mess (MAC Eye Pencil in Coffee)

So, I recently purchased my first ever MAC cosmetic. I guess I've never really gone for having MAC before because I find it to be over priced and I didn't really want to fork over a lot of money for a make up product I wasn't sure I'd like. However, I am the biggest punter in the world and after watching loads of MAC reviews I decided to take the plunge and it came at the perfect time as I'd ran out of my usual eye liner.

I have to say that firstly, my visit to MAC wasn't one I'd say I enjoyed. The 'make up artists' were quite snooty and the atmosphere in general wasn't very welcoming. Anyway, I did end up buying a MAC eye pencil in coffee for £12.50 which considering I generally just use high street eyeliners like Rimmel is an incredible amount so I have to admit I was expecting great things for the price.
The eyeliner itself is a really pretty and natural chocolate brown colour which I love. It's so girly and I'm not normally someone who likes brown eyeliner but this one really caught my eye.
When I first applied it I was so impressed, it looks so casual but pretty and I thought that straight away it was going to become a make up bag staple. I applied it to my waterline and a thin line on my eyelid just to give a really awake and fresh look, another comment I do have to make is that the pencil is incredible soft when you apply it. It's almost a kind of moose, definitely not a rough as some of the high street brands I've used in the past.
But. After just a few hours it looked dreadful, my eyes looked worn down and the eyeliner had smudged like crazy so all in all I'm pretty disappointed. I would hasten to mention that I have only used it a few times so I'm going to keep trying it out and see whether I'm just using it wrong or I was having a particularly bad make up day (it happens to us all) so I'll keep you guys updated on any changed but for the moment I'd definitely recommend that you save your money and stay away from this product.
Anyway, I'll leave some swatches and a picture of the product below. If you guys have tried this product and have something to say then please let me know what you thought and what MAC products would you recommend to a new user?
Thanks for reading and if you like my blog then leave some comments, follow me and if you do any cool blogs then let me know and I'll definitely check those out.
